Terra Transformed

Terra is another dog who has made a complete turn-around. In just under two weeks she has blossomed into a confident little dog. She came in scared, unsure, and shy- but is now happy, tail wagging, and is quite silly. Her inner retriever is shining through!

She has found the joy of toys, and the comfort of human companionship. She loves to snuggle and leans into you for attention. She loves a good belly rub, and is a great foot warmer.

Terra is discovering how to walk on a leash and loves to go to the park. She has a great nose and sniffs out lots on the walk.

She is turning out to be a great family dog and loves the kids in her foster home. She is also more comfortable with other dogs and is learning to play with them.

Terra has finally put on some weight and looks really good- we think she is about 8 months old, and is most definitely a lab cross of some sort. Like I mentioned she is very silly like a retriever and loves her people.

Growing...

They are growing like weeds!!!! And are very, very cute!

The pups eyes are open but they still don't really "See" much at this age. They are more active and are wiggling around, starting to wrestle a bit, but mostly just eat, sleep, and poop!

Aimee is being a great mom, and is doing well.

She is eating like a horse, and is still sweet and affectionate as always!

She's all that!

Shasta has truly transformed into a different dog. It is the most amazing thing.

When we got Shasta she was very pregnant, terrified, and mostly hairless. With lots of love, good nutrition and patience she is a completely different dog.

Her pups are now all gone and in new homes (except for Bonnie!!!!) and her coat is looking great- no more bald patches, she is at a good weight, and is enjoying life.

















She loves people and is very friendly- but not in an overwhelming way- a gentle wag of her tail and a lean into you is her way of saying hi!

Shasta is housetrained now and is great in the house- she has very good manners and can sit, and comes when she is called.
















She still is a sensitive dog- she cannot take a harsh tone of voice and will melt to the floor if she thinks she's done something wrong. She is a little hesitant to go through doorways but with a little encouragement will trot along behind you.

Despite her sensitivity she is a very playful dog! She loves to race around in the snow, and wil bury her whole head in the snow bank. She enjoys life to the fullest this dog. Shasta has also learned about toys and is a shredder of all thing stuffed- she is determined to kill the squeaker!
















Shasta is great with other dogs and really seems to enjoy their company. She is also good with cats, and is learning to be respectful of their space!

In case you can't tell from the photos she is mostly lab with maybe a little bully type dog. She is just over kneee height and is a nice compact dog. She doesn't take up a lot of space and really, really needs her own family to love.

















She would love an active, but quiet couple that enjoy going for long walks in the coulees, hiking, camping... whatever. Or she would be equally happy laying around on the sofa with daily walks to the park. She is an easy
dog to live with and is very, very sweet. She has a great sense of humour and as she becomes more confident we are really seeing the true Shasta.

Thank you so much to her wonderful foster home. She would not be the dog she is today without you.

Little Lulu

Meet Lulu. Possibly one of the cutest puppies on the planet.

Lulu was surrendered to rescue along with her 9 littermates. Due to the fact that we are VERY full with dogs/puppies right now we moved the other nine pups to surrounding rescues- check out Mistycreek dog rescue, and Second Chance Dog Rescue in Pincher Creek to see them.

The 10 pups were starving and have had little human contact. They were quite frankly terrified of everything. People. Outside (they'd only ever been indoors). Cars. Noises. People. It was very, very sad to see them all so scared. We kept Lulu because she was the most scared. And she was the most underweight.

It is pretty amazing to see the turn-around in under a week. Wow. She is gaining weight, and has a healthy look to her. She is outgoing towards people now, is ultra snuggly and is becoming braver by the day. Her foster home is doing an amazing job!

Lulu is a Golden Retriever/Border Collie/Collie cross??? Maybe? Her mom appears to be mostly retriever with a bit of collie thrown in there. It is a guess really. Lulu is very petite and will be a medium sized dog as an adult. She is just nine weeks old now and is well on her way to becoming a normal, confident little puppy.

She is learning about living in a normal house, with normal noises, how to go outside to potty, how to play with toys, how to wag her tail...all that fun stuff!

Lulu really is a very cute little pup, and is ultra soft to touch. She has retriever like hair that is all fluff right now. Her eyes make you melt, and well her soft little personality will just about do anyone in!

She is looking for a home that can offer her lots of love, good walks every day (once she is older), maybe another dog to play with (she loves other dogs) and of course a warm bed to sleep in everynight.

If you can offer this to her please contact us as soon as possible. She will not be around long!

A Diamond in the Ruff...

Gem is as cute as can be with a cute personality to match. She is a five month old Border Collie/Cattle Dog Cross. She was surrendered to us when her owners didn't have enough time to spend with her anymore.

Gem has Cattle Dog markings- but underneath the color is built and looks like a Border Collie. She is quite a neat looking cross! She is about 40lbs now- we predict she will be about 50-60lbs as an adult, and large in size- about 22 inches tall or so. Right now she is all legs and very gangly looking! She'll grow into those legs and tail someday!

I was trying to figure out what made her so cute, and I really do think it is her personality. She is all wiggles and is eager to please. She melts at your feet, and is always ready for a belly rub! Gem is a great cuddler and likes to be close. Really close. I wouldn't call her needy though as she can be pretty independent, but in the evening after a long day she is most definitely ready for a cuddle!

Gem is a happy little dog- who is gaining confidence every day. You see, Gem came from a farm- she'd never seen a city bus, or been in a big building. She is figuring it out pretty good though- and has learned how to do stairs, go into buildings, walk on a leash- every day is something new!

The nice thing about Gem is that you get the puppy "clean slate" but she is already housetrained, has mild manners, and is gentle. Even when she forgets she is not supposed to jump on you it is gentle. It is very cute.

Gem is great with other dogs and is learning how to play with them. She was a little unsure at first but has it mostly figured out. She seems to really like the little guys! She also has great cat manners and knows to avoid them! Gem has been around livestock and knows to leave the horses alone- although left to her own devices I am sure she would be bad!

If you've read this far your not turned off by the fact that she is a border collie cross- which is a good thing! She is not a super active dog, and is good with a few walks a day or a run in the coulees. She has a great recall and once she learns how to play fetch that will be a great way to tire her out. In the house she is calm and will lay down on a dog bed and chew a bone, or her toys- she is not jumping around, or getting into stuff. This is one well behaved puppy!!! She's only five months! Imagine how she will be when she is a year old! This is most definitely a dog worth investing some time into!

Happy Guy Vince

Thank you for all your interest in Vince. He is now very happy in his forever home.

In one word- Wiggly.

Vince is a pitbull /boxer cross who is the happiest dog in the world. He would turn himself inside out if he could! His whole body wiggles and squirms in excitement. It is pretty darn cute.

Vince was found wandering and picked up by the Cardston bylaw enforcement back in December. He waited in a smelly kennel until his time was up. Thankfully we were alerted before he was killed. His foster home quickly fell in love with him just before Christmas but have just now made the difficult decision not to adopt him. So- he is now available for adoption. Again.

He is about a year old or so and he is very outgoing, friendly, and happy. He loves all people and is great with kids. He is good with other dogs- and will play for hours. He is well behaved in the house and is fully housetrained. He is still a puppy in some ways and likes to carry shoes and kids toys around, but will drop them when asked. He would be great motivation to keep stuff off the floor!!!

Vince is one of those dogs who is soft to the touch, and soft at heart. He is a complete mushball and loves to be with his people. He is very affectionate and likes to kiss and snuggle. Vince has pretty good manners and doesn't jump up anymore, and is completely housetrained. He still needs to learn leash manners, but he can't be perfect!!!!

This dude needs a home that will love him for who he is. Someone who likes to be active, someone with another dog to keep him company, and someone who will just love him. That isn't too much to ask???!!!

Rock 'N Roll

Someone did a good deed the other day. Instead of turning a blind eye to a starving, abandoned mom and her newborn pups they did the responsible thing and took them to the vet. From there, they've come to us.

We really, really aren't set up to raise yet another litter of pups. But how can you say no?

\Raising a litter is hard, smelly, and time consuming work. Puppies require a lot of care and clean up, and Momma requires both emotional and physical support.

The fun part of a litter of pups is coming up with the names! It was a hard choice but in the end we decided to name them after lead singers in Rock 'N Roll bands. We needed 11 names- which is alot!!!!

So we'd like to introduce you to Aimee and her babies.

Aimee is a Husky/Border Collie cross and is very, very sweet. She is friendly and is one of those dogs that you just can't help but to fall in love with. She is young- maybe 9 months old, and is already a mom. She is doing a great job with her babies, but is very skinny trying to feed 10 hungry bellies.

We will have more information on her in a few days. She won't be available for adoption until her pups have been weaned, but we will be taking applications on her.

On to the pups. We have named them, but at this age we can't tell much about their personalities. I must say though that this is one colorful litter of pups!!! I would say there is a lot of husky in them for sure. Who knows who the daddy was, maybe a border collie or a shepherd??? We'll never know but the pups are sure cute!!!

#10 white up muzzle, freckles on nose, ring half way around neck "Dexter

Aren't they the cutest bunch of pups????? Some of them are smooth like a border collie, and some will have husky type hair.

As mentioned above raising a litter of pups takes a lot of time and supplies! We are looking for donations of bedding (towels, sheets, blankets), lean cuts canned food, and Acana Puppy food. Aimee is pretty skinny and will need good quality food to be able to take care of the pups. If you have something you'd like to donate please call Natalie at 403 795 2599 and leave a message.

Survivors Three

We have not one, but three new dogs to tell you about. All three have their own survival stories, and all three will make wonderful companions.

Sugar is the eldest of the group so she can go first. Her elderly owner was no longer able to care for her, and unfortunately didn't have any friends or family to take little sugar in. She is about 5 years old and is Bichon/Poodle cross. She is all white, and is a very happy little dog. She loves people and is very friendly. Sugar is a great little lap dog and is content to lay at your feet, or on your lap while you watch TV. She does like to go for walks though, and is pretty playful. She has her favorite little toys and likes the squeaky ones! Sugar would make a great companion for an elderly couple, or someone who is looking for a well behaved house dog. She is very sweet, and is an easy dog to love!

Next we have Erinn. She is a cute little thing- and appears to be a Scottish Terrier cross. She is about 6 months old and is still a silly little puppy. She is very full of herself and is happy and tail wagging already. She was found as a stray in Cardston and was never claimed. It is not likely that she was ever indoors as she is just learning about slippery floors, and housetraining. Erinn will come around fast though! She is very clever and is already learning how to walk on a leash and live indoors. Erinn is very playful and LOVES toys. She will happily carry a toy around and is particularily fond of squeaker toys. She is a little unsure of other dogs, but is figuring out that they aren't that scary! This is a great little pup who with a little time and patience will be a fantastic pet!

And then there is Tyson- he has long skinny legs and a small pointy head that doesn't seem to fit with the rest of him. He is the most unique color combination of black, silver and wheaten. He will be a very striking looking dog as an adult. He is the youngest of the bunch and is about 4 months old. He is very sweet, and already is coming out of his shell. He is super playful and will be a very fun little dog! He adores people, and the thump, thump, thump of his tail can be heard through out the house! He is probably a Shepherd cross of some sort, and will be a large sized dog as an adult. He likes other dogs, and met his first cats today. Tyson will be a fun pup to have around and already is proving to be very smart. In just one short little walk he almost has this leash thing figured out!

All three of these dogs were named after this seasons "Survivor." We thought it was fitting.

Vikki Update

Little miss Vikki is doing awesome! Her foster home has nothing but great things to say about her. She is doing really well in the housetraining department, and is learning how to live the good life. Vikki is very confident and full of herself. She is quite the little diva and is very sweet.

Isn't she the cutest thing????!!!

Seek and ye shall find...

.....a wonderful dog!

Seeker is still looking for a home to call his own. I am absolutely amazed that this dog hasn't found his happy ending yet. He is smart, gorgeous, friendly, easy to live with, and loves to play.

He is just over a year old and is a Shepherd/Lab/Chow cross. He is great in the house and is completely housetrained. He is crate trained and even knows some tricks! He can roll over, shake a paw, and speak! He's a talented guy.

Seeker is good with other dogs but does have an "Alpha" personality. He LOVES to play though and has a great time at doggy daycare. He is also very good with kids, and adores them. He is very gentle and is abnormally calm when he is around them. For this reason I think he'd make a great family dog.

He is also a good "watch dog"- meaning that he will bark in the yard and at home if someone comes, or he is suspicious- but will quiet and be friendly if you tell him it's okay.

Seeker would do best in a home without cats as he does show quite an interest in them. He doesn't take no for an answer and is very, very curious.

Overall this boy is a great dog- he has the good looks, the personality, and the attitude that really makes him stick out. He has a great personality and is goofy, but serious when he needs to be. He is very sweet, and likes to cuddle. No one told him he was too big to be a lap dog!
