A Letter from Chester

Hi my name is Chester, I am the last of my mom Aimee's pups left at my foster mom's house. I am learning lots about housetraining & walking on a leash. Yesterday my brother Dexter left for his new home and today I am depressed and lonely. I just want a loving family to adopt me too. I promise to be a great family pet. If anyone out there could find in their hearts to adopt me, please hurry I will be waiting right here.

Thanks from a great little pup,

Chester

Anyone??

"SINGLE FEMALE seeks companionship, gender and ethnicity unimportant. I'm very good looking (see attached photo) and LOVE to play. For the fella's I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. For the ladies, I love to cuddle, girl talk, gossip, getting my hair done, shopping where they will let me, listening to your troubles and will be there when you need a friend. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Call (403) 795-2599 and ask for Aimee or email me prairiedogcaninerescue@hotmail.com I'll be waiting..."

Aimee is still looking for her forever home, could that be yours???

Spike

Meet Spike.....isn't he handsome....he is a 4 year old Bichon/Poodle Cross....

His foster mom says not to let his big tough name fool you as he is more of a cute cuddly teddy bear. Here is more of what Spike's foster mom has to say about him:

What a sweet little boy! He was a little dirty, so we had a spa day yesterday. He sat so nice for his bath, and didn't complain. He really enjoyed the towel-cuddles afterwards. He is very gentle and wants to be close to you all the time. He's definitely your little shadow. He wants to ask for attention, but seems scared to approach you. Once he gets in your lap, he gives very special hugs and soft little kisses. He had a nice little nap on the couch with me under the blankets. He is a perfect little gentleman in the house - very calm and quiet, which is a bit of a hazard since he's usually right at my feet. Someone will be very lucky to snatch him

Spike is crate trained, house trained and is a well mannered boy who deserves an extra special home to shower him with the attention he deserves.

Spike has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and is ready for a home to call his own....

In...or...Out

We often get inquiries for people wanting to adopt dogs from us that will be kept as strictly outdoor dogs. As one of our general adoption policies we do not adopt to people wanting a dog that will only be kept outdoors. Now if we do happen to get a dog into our program that was an outside dog since a puppy and we know of someone looking for an outside dog there can be an exception to this rule.

People often ask why and so we would like to set the record straight.

All dogs in our program are placed into foster homes until they are adopted. The dogs get a head start on house training, crate training and socialization with other animals and people. The foster homes put a lot of their time and effort into their foster dogs in hopes that it will make the transition to their new home easier. If a dog is going to be left outside from the time it is taken home then all the time and effort a family has put into this training has been a wasted effort. We want all of our dogs to have the opportunity of being a part of the family.

By no means are we saying that people who only have outside dogs are bad owners it is just not in our policies to adopt out our dogs to live their life as outdoor dogs. Imagine being a cute little 8 week old puppy who has lived in the cozy house with your furry brother and sisters only to be taken to your new home and left alone outside in the cold, or one of the many strays we take in that have gone from this cold to the comforts of living is a warm home with a family only to be sent back outside.

If you read our blog and respect what we do, you will understand that we put a lot of time, effort, love, and training into each and every one of the dogs that comes into our system. We take them from bad situations where maybe they would never be considered 'one of the family', and we make sure they will become one. All our dogs, we are proud to say, go through basic command training, house training, crate training, and leash training. They are ready to be well mannered, welcome members of a household. Your household?

Judging Aimee

The verdict is in and Aimee is guilty of being a great mother. But she has done her time, her puppies are weaned and she is ready to be free for the first time in her life. Do you want to help her make bail?

Aimee is a very sweet dog and loves to play. She gets along great with other dogs, but if they won't play she can be found throwing the ball for herself!

She is learning leash manners and that it is ok to be left alone. Aimee isn't use to being contained so her foster mom is working on crate training.

Aimee is great in the house and is fully potty trained. She has been a great mother and now she wants to be a great friend.

Court adjourned!

Low Rider

It seems Nike has been riding under the radar these last few weeks. He went to daycare today and we got some great pictures of him.

He thinks he's a pretty funny guy.

But he has a serious, sensitive side too.

Swoosh!

And then There Was One

Remember the 3 Amigo's? Well now we are just down to Junie the sweet pit bull girl. Junie has proven herself to be a very good girl in her foster home.

Junie's foster mom says she is is a super sweet and full of kisses. She loves to curl up with you on the couch and will follow you around everywhere. If you happen to be sitting somewhere and she can't be next to you, she'll let you know she doesn't approve.

She is a bit of a chewer but as long as you have a bone available for her, she's fine. She will also have to learn how to walk nicely on a leash.

We haven't seen any toy or food aggression between Junie and other dogs. She's great in her kennel at night and loves going for car rides. Junie is also almost 100% potty trained.

Did I mention she is beautiful!
