The Underdog

Bonney had 2 strikes against her before she was even born. She is black and she is female. If the rescue hadn't saved her mother she would have had 3 strikes. We figured she might be one of the later pups to be placed but poor Bonney has waited longer then we ever thought. Even her momma Shasta has been adopted and that almost never happens.

Bonney loves to be with her people, she can be a little shy but it doesn't take long for her to feel comfortable in different situations . She gets along well with other dogs, and after a good romp she is content to lay at your feet, or in your lap which ever you prefer. Bonney has been traveling the province taking on the role of cheerleader for her foster brothers and sisters in agility trials. She has been great in the vehicle, and is walking fairly nicely on leash.

Bonney would be the perfect dog to adopt for those who don't want to deal with the potty training, the sleepless nights, and the mass destruction that little puppies come with. But you still get the baby cuteness! Bonney has been in an amazing foster home since birth and she has learned how to be a respectful and happy dog. She has had no traumatic experience to overcome, and no issues to sort through which, unfortunately, can be rare in rescued dogs.

Puppies should never have to grow up in rescue, it's very heartbreaking. I know it's probably more tragic for a dog who has been left by his family of several years, or a dog that never had a family, but for some reason they feel more like orphans to me. It could be because my own dog grew up in rescue. When we got her she was almost a year old, and it's like she knew she never had a family, born an orphan. These dogs worship you, they try to please you in every step they take, just so they may stay, they may have a family to call their own. And even as the dog ages, that love never gets old.

Bonnie

We've had Bonnie in rescue since she was born. Her mom is Shasta and all of her brothers and sisters have found homes now. Except Bonnie!
Why? Well, because she is a black dog. Sad but true.
I tried to explain that to Bonnie the other day. She doesn't get it.

Bonnie wants to know why no one wants her? She wanted met to tell the world all about her...here is her "list" of qualities!

She's cute (her hair is almost all regrown after a case of demodex)

She has a great smile

She is outgoing, friendly and very confident

She loves to play

She is housetrained

She is crate trained

She is good with cats, dogs, and all people

She loves to play

She is pretty good on a leash

She can sit, come, and can almost down on command

She is smart

She is going to be a great size- not too big, not too small

She would love a jogging home, or an active outdoorsy family

Oh, and she is pretty full of herself!

Once you look past the "black dog" you can see it in her eyes what a great dog she is.

She really deserves a home to call her own. It is past time!

Pirate Girls

There are only two Pirate Girls left looking for homes.

Bonnie - the leader of the girls, a strong personality who loves to play and tug, but also loves to snuggle with you. Always one of the first to be in on what is happening or to check out a new adventure. Busy girl but also loves to just sit with you and have some one on one attention.

She has longer hair but has short legs. She reminds us of a newfie :o)

Sparrow - the quieter girl, will wait and see what the others are doing before she dives in, Sparrow is the one who can get pushed out of things. She is also the sweetest of the group and will happily sit with you and when you pick this girl up you can almost hear her sigh with pleasure for a hug. Sparrow has medium length hair and has long lab-like legs.

Pirates! Update- 3 weeks

Well the Pirates are 3 weeks old already!!! It is amazing how time flies by! The pups are all doing really well and we are starting to see their little personalities emerge.


The only pup so far spoken for is little Grace. Everyone else is still available for adoption!


First Shasta- it must be said what a terrific mom and dog she is. This girl has the sweetest personality of any dog I have met in a long time. She just wants to be loved and will do anything to please you. She is quiet and gets along great with other dogs. She would make a fantastic addition to any home who has some time to help her build her confidence despite her rough time in life she absolutely loves people. Shasta is a very dedicated mom, although young herself she has given everything she has to these puppies to make sure they are well looked after and loved.

Now to the puppies...

Bart - the black and tan male is my helper puppy. Anything I am doing he wants to be right in there ..in his mind helping..he is very sweet and tries to keep up with me

Butler - black and (more) white male he is the boss of the litter right now anyway and is also the vocal leader. If he thinks it is feeding time he is the first one to let you know. No one would be surprised to know he is the heaviest of he puppies ..this boy likes his food...can see he will be smart little puppy already...

Bonny - little black girl is the snuggler of the group. She reminds me most of her mom Shasta both in personality and in looks, even down to the white toes on her one back foot. She always is happy to be picked up and talked to and just goes with the flow and gets along with everyone in the group and loves to play.

Davy - little black & white boy..is starting to really make himself known in the group..he may be the smallest boy but he is showing he is brave and he is starting to play more and more ..

Grace- little black & tan girl.. very sweet girl..she is probably right behind Bonny in the snuggle department..she may be small but want everyone to know she is tough...today she had Butler (the biggest) pinned down while playing..think she was proud of herself...

Morgan - bigger black & white girl...always searching out her mother looking for food..this girl likes to eat and thinks the first 3 weeks of her life have been pretty good.

Sparrow - smaller black & white girl... she is the laid back girl and just goes with the flow. She likes to cuddle and is already such a sweetheart!
